Blessings to everyone! The 6th Biblical month, usually called “Elul”, begins as of the evening of 8/11. For some of our friends, this will be the first time to experience the Fall Feasts. Each year, we get to learn more and join together to worship our Master through participation in His appointed times.

The sixth Biblical month begins the traditional 40 days period of “teshuvah” – days of repentance – leading up to Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), and preparation for the fall Biblical festival and holy days. The word “Elul” is similar to the root of the verb “search” in Aramaic.

The Hebrew word “Elul” can be understood to be an acronym for the phrase “Ani L’dodi V’dodi Li” – “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine” (Song of Solomon 6:3). Elul is seen as a time to search one’s heart and draw close to God in preparation for the coming Day of Judgement, Rosh Hashanah, and Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur.

“The Feasts are a prophetic shadow-picture of things to come (Col. 2:16-17; Heb. 10:1). When they were given to ancient Israel, they pointed forward to future events that would occur to the nation of Israel. The spring Feast Days, for example, pointed to Messiah’s first coming, while the fall Feast Days point to his second coming leading into the Messianic Age (Millennium) and into eternity beyond.”
